Nordstrom — the high-end retailer that has come to life on a prominent corner of the Americana at Brand — will open on Sept. 20, officials announced Wednesday.

Americana officials also announced that two big-draw restaurants will open in the outdoor shopping mall within a year.

The Americana is also making $60 million worth of improvements along Brand Boulevard to create a grand lobby entrance leading to Nordstrom as well as street improvements such as landscaping and lighting, according to Rick Caruso, founder of the Americana’s owner, Caruso Affiliated.

“We are very certain … we are going to have one of the great boulevards in Los Angeles,” Caruso said.

Nordstrom is moving from its current location in the Glendale Galleria II. Caruso, whose company also owns the space in which Nordstrom is currently located, said there have been talks with possible new tenants, but he would not give details.

Caruso also said Din Tai Fung and Bourbon Steak restaurants will be moving into the Americana.

Din Tai Fung, a Taiwanese dumpling-centric restaurant, is expected to open on Sept. 15.

Bourbon Steak, part of a chain owned by celebrity chef Michael Mina, is planning to open in early 2014.

The two restaurants are taking over unoccupied space along Brand Boulevard, with Bourbon Steak on the corner of Colorado Street and Din Tai Fung located to the north, on the corner of Caruso Avenue.
