Deer euthanized in La Crescenta

A deer was euthanized in La Crescenta early Saturday morning after deputies found it impaled on a residential fence, authorities said.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 6000 block of Canyonside Road about 4:30 a.m., where the deer was found stuck on the fence after apparently attempting to jump it, said Sgt. Booker Hollis of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Hollis added that the “medium-sized” deer suffered massive internal and external injuries.

“It couldn’t move,” Hollis said, adding that the deer was euthanized “so it wouldn’t suffer any longer.”
