Seven arrested during drunk-driving saturation patrols
Seven motorists were arrested Saturday night during saturation patrols focused on drunk driving in the city, police said.
Of the seven motorists arrested, five were taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and two others allegedly used drugs, according to Glendale Police Sgt. Richard Phillips.
The latest patrols were part of an 18-day countywide crackdown on motorists who were driving while intoxicated. Law enforcement agencies sought DUI drivers during routine and saturation patrols as well as DUI checkpoints.
The high-enforcement period, which ended Monday, yielded 2,313 DUI-related arrests, which is up 215 from 2012, according to county officials.
During the crackdown, Glendale police arrested 24 motorists as part of the countywide anti-DUI campaign.
