A 31-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of masturbating in front of a church while parishioners were attending service.

David Bersach was asleep and reportedly still had his hand in his pants waistband when officers approached him at 9:09 a.m. on a set of stairs outside of the Glendale Seventh Day Adventist Church in the 200 block of North Isabel Street, according to Glendale police.

Witnesses notified officers about Bersach after they allegedly saw him moaning and touching himself outside the church.

He was immediately taken into custody on suspicion of lewd conduct in a public place, police said
