Equipment malfunction causes power outage in Glendale

Share

An equipment malfunction at the Grayson Power Plant caused a brief power outages in North Glendale on Wednesday, Glendale Water and Power officials said.

The outage started at about 8:20 a.m. and lasted for about an hour, Acting Power Plant Superintendent John Escudero said.

As many as 14,000 customers in the northern portion of the city were impacted, according to GWP spokeswoman Atineh Haroutunian.

The outage occurred after a power disconnect switch snapped off and made contact with other metal parts, grounding out some power delivery equipment, Escudero said.

The Glendale City Council allocated $5 million for repairs to aging power plant equipment in July.
