SWAT team trains at GCC building

Share

The Glendale Police Department’s SWAT team undertook a two-hour training exercise Wednesday in a vacant building at Glendale Community College that is slated for demolition on Monday.

Crews will destroy the Los Robles building that once housed the college’s culinary arts program to make way for a 90,000-square-foot, three-story structure that will house the culinary arts and anthropology departments, as well as computer and writing labs.

The new building will be roughly 18,000 square feet bigger than the college’s largest structure — the 71,800-square-foot library.

Construction on the nearly $40-million project will begin this fall and students are expected to use the new building by late 2015.
