Firefighters battle two blazes in Glendale area, forcing freeway delays
Glendale fire crews are battling two blazes, one of which has forced the closure of the southbound Glendale (2) Freeway interchange to the eastbound Ventura (134) Freeway.
Firefighters responded about 3:46 p.m. to a brush fire in Los Angeles near the freeway interchange, said Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.
Local firefighters joined 40 firefighters on the ground from the Los Angeles Fire Department as well as three helicopters in trying to extinguish the blaze which is described as “stubborn,” according to a tweet posted by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The second blaze occurred about the same time in the 1400 block of Dorothy Drive.
A pole was ablaze and was spreading to a garage, he added.
