The cause of death has not yet been determined, according to Jerry McKibben, an investigator with the Coroner’s Office.

However, sheriff’s officials said Friday night the man appeared to have died “by his own hand.”

Deputies received a call around 4 p.m. about a man who had reportedly stolen drugs from a Rite-Aid store in the Marketplace Shopping Center, located at Foothill Boulevard and Rosemont Avenue, Brink said.

The man then fled to the nearby Verizon store. Everyone in the Verizon store was evacuated and later deputies evacuated the entire shopping center.

No other injuries were reported.
