A 59-year-old Altadena man was fatally injured Monday evening after he apparently jumped from the bridge at Ocean View Boulevard onto the Foothill (210) Freeway in La Crescenta-Montrose, officials said.

The man, whose identity wasn’t released pending notification of his family, was taken to a local hospital, where he died just after midnight Tuesday, according to Det. Gary Sica with the Homicide Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A passerby notified authorities that the man scaled the bridge’s fence about 4:20 p.m., and jumped, he said.

The man landed on the shoulder of the eastbound 210 Freeway, where sheriff’s deputies found him.

A note was discovered inside his vehicle, but his reasons for jumping weren’t clear.
