Star Ford Lincoln is getting ready to break ground on a new 50,000-square-foot showroom and service department along Brand Boulevard in Glendale.

Two buildings on the 100,000-square-foot lot at 1101 S. Brand, are expected to be demolished in the next two weeks to make room for the new structure, according to Alex Tamez, general manager of the dealership, which is owned by Glendale resident Steve Bussjaeger.

The Bussjaeger family has owned the dealership for more than 40 years.

The third building, located on the northeast corner of the lot, will be torn down after the new showroom and service department are constructed, Tamez said.

Dealership officials began working with the city two and half years ago to construct the new building, Tamez said, adding that the dealership has been operating out of temporary facilities the past eight months while the two existing buildings were being prepared for demolition.
