Welcome to the weekend, 818 readers. Today is Sunday, Dec. 15. The National Weather Services predicts temperatures will hit 59 and drop to 41.
A three-alarm fire broke out above Glendale’s popular Paradise Pastry on Saturday, causing extensive water damage and temporarily closing the business, officials said. It took about 65 firefighters from Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena fire departments to knock down the fire at about 4:45 a.m., she said. No injuries were reported.
President Barack Obama’s visit to DreamWorks Animation last month cost the city about $61,000 and at least one City Council member thinks that Glendale shouldn’t be the only one footing the bill for the increased security.
Several of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies named in federal indictments last week are also named defendants in civil lawsuits that could end up costing the county millions of dollars, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
“Fast and Furious” actor and Glendale native Paul Walker was laid to rest Saturday in a private funeral service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills attended by family and close friends, the Los Angeles Times reports.
