One person is in custody following a reported shooting and carjacking in Glendale, police said.

Authorities received reports of a carjacking at Broadway and Sinclair Avenue and apparent shots fired shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday, said Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz.

While investigating the carjacking, the California Highway Patrol reported that it had a possible stolen vehicle on the Glendale (2) Freeway, near Stancrest Drive, Lorenz said.

Police then received additional reports of more shots fired, he added.

“The highway patrol took a suspect into custody who appears to have a gunshot wound in his foot,” Lorenz said.

The carjacking suspect is allegedly the same person police took into custody, Lorenz said. The suspect’s identity was not immediately provided. It’s unclear if other suspects are involved, he added.

“We’re still trying to determine where shots were fired, whether they occurred on Broadway and Sinclair or Stancrest or whether or not the suspect might have shot himself in the foot,” he said.

It’s unclear if authorities shot him or if he inflicted the gunshot on himself, Lorenz added.

No weapon was recovered at the scene and the suspect’s condition was not immediately available.
