210 Freeway reopens after early morning big rig crash

Transition roads onto the westbound 210 Freeway at the 134 Freeway in Pasadena were closed early Tuesday after a big rig jackknifed, the California Highway Patrol said.

The truck lost control and became entangled with a guard rail on the transition road where the westbound 210 turns north toward La Cañada Flintridge, CHP Officer Alex Rubio told the Los Angeles Times.

The driver was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, and a diesel spill caused by the collision was being assessed, Rubio said.

The jackknifed truck forced the closure of transition roads onto the westbound 210 from the eastbound 134 and from the westbound 210 out of the San Gabriel Valley, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Backups were beginning on the eastbound 134 as rush hour got under way, the CHP said.

Drivers heading west through Pasadena and needing to use the westbound 210 were urged by authorities to stay on the eastbound 134 and head north on the 2 Freeway.
