Crescenta Valley Briefs: 9th annual Hometown Country Fair, Run to Remember 5K

The ninth annual Hometown Country Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Crescenta Valley Park, 3901 Dunsmore Ave.

The free event will feature carnival rides, a classic hot-rod car show, food booths, arts and crafts exhibits, a dog parade as well as live entertainment. For more information, call (818) 249-4957 or visit www.crescentavalleychamber.org.

The third annual Run to Remember 5K Cross Country Run/Walk will kick off at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday starting from the intersection of Dunsmore and Honolulu avenues. Registration can be made in advance or at the event. Check-in will be at 7 a.m.

There’s a $20 entrance fee and all participants will receive a souvenir medal. All proceeds will benefit local veterans programs. For more information, call (818) 541-1336 or visit www.twostrikemmeorial.org.

A discussion about drug use and its repercussions led by Officer Abe Chung of the Glendale Police Department will be held at 7 p.m. on April 7 at St. Luke’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church, 2563 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.

A Los Angeles district attorney and mental health professional will join the free discussion about what to do when a teenager is caught with drugs and how they could recover legally and emotionally. For those in need of some decompressing, a spa day will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd. Those in attendance can choose from various face masks, foot baths and hand scrubs to help start off relaxation followed by light stretches and guided meditation.

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly mixer from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the courtyard of First Baptist Church, 4441 La Crescenta Ave. Dinner will be provided. Entry fee is $7 for members and $9 for nonmembers. For more information, call (818) 248-4957.
