Police seized three Samurai swords and a bow and arrow from a 37-year-old homeless man, who was carrying them in a backpack Friday as he walked in a Montrose neighborhood.

Lester Travis told officers he was homeless and used the weapons for hunting because he was living in the woods, according to Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

He was ultimately arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed dagger.

Officers spotted the large weapons and stopped Travis as he was walking along Verdugo Road near Broadview Drive.

The length of the swords varied from 15 inches to 30 inches, she said.
