Four area drop-off sites to take unwanted drugs

Share

Authorities will collect unwanted and expired prescription drugs Saturday from residents looking to get rid of their supplies.

The Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station, Glendale Police Department and CV Alliance, a local nonprofit drug and alcohol prevention organization, will oversee four drop-off sites from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The no-questions-asked collection is part of a nationwide one-day event aimed at preventing pill abuse and potential drug-related thefts.

More than 950 pounds of prescription and nonprescription drugs were collected in Montrose, La Crescenta and La Cañada Flintridge last year during a similar event.

Authorities amassed 324 tons of prescription drugs last October at thousands of drop-off sites nationally.

To drop off unwanted drugs, visit the following locations.

- CVS Pharmacy at 2037 Verdugo Blvd. in Montrose

- Rite-Aid Pharmacy at 2647 W. Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta

- Rite-Aid Pharmacy at 647 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge

- Glendale Community College-Glendale at 1500 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale
