Police arrest five in DUI patrol

Police arrested five motorists Friday for alleged drunk and drugged driving during an enforcement operation in Glendale.

Officers stopped 41 vehicles during the citywide patrol, which aimed to look for motorists who were driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in neighborhoods.

During the patrol, officers found three drivers were allegedly drunk, one had used drugs and another driver was both drunk and high, according to Glendale police.

They also made two other arrests for alleged drug violations.

The operation allows officers to patrol neighborhoods with the most frequent and highest number of DUI collisions and arrests.

In November, police received a $228,000 grant from the state’s Office of Traffic Safety to pay for 46 police enforcement operations and traffic-related education until Sept. 30.
