Letter: Bulky-item pickup is usually free

The News-Press should check its facts more carefully before publishing things on the front page. “The Bottom Line” in Wednesday’s paper listed a City of Glendale fee of $39.85 for bulky-item pickup. I double-checked the Glendale website (glendaleca.gov) and it states “For free residential Bulky and Electronic item Pickup Service, residents should either call (818) 548-3916 or complete the electronic form below.” Maybe if the general population of this city knew that the pickup service is free they would stop dumping so much old furniture on the streets and vacant lots in this town.

Editor’s Note: Thursday’s paper carried a correction to the error in “The Bottom Line.” For readers who may not have seen it, customers are only charged the stated rate for special pickups, which are for very large jobs, such as a whole-house cleanup.
