Letter: Developers and Glendale officials don’t care

At least there is one person at City Hall who understands how frustrated and angry a significant number of Glendale residents are about the out-of-control development in Glendale. Major kudos to Planning Hearing Officer Laura Stotler for her decision noting “that the proposed project did not qualify for the rule exceptions.”

The article noted that Michael Tchakmakjian is the sole executive (owner) of the property at Brand Boulevard and Dryden Street.

Not only was Tchakmakjian disappointed in the planning officer’s decision but responded with the threat to build an even bigger project on the property because he can. And to make matters even worse Tchakmakjian is a member (appointed I presume) of the Glendale Building and Fire Board of Appeals.

I don’t know the exact definition of “conflict of interest” but being a developer and sitting on a building appeals board seems to fall within the definition.

Tchakmakjian of all people, along with everybody else at City Hall, should know the displeasure of Glendale residents regarding development.

I think they do know and just don’t care.
