Letter: Drop-off zone at GCC needs attention

A passenger drop-off zone is located on Verdugo Road in front of Glendale Community College. This zone is for the immediate loading or unloading of passengers only. Most of the drivers forget about the rules.

One night when I wanted to go to the campus, I asked my husband to drive me to college because I didn’t want to waste time hunting for parking. When we arrived at the drop-off-zone area, most of the drivers were waiting in their vehicle for the student(s) to arrive. Thus, my husband did not find a place to stop and drop me off. We drove away for a few minutes and came back again, but there was still no space. After driving around the college, we finally find a place to stop. Because of the delay, I missed my class on that day.

This is not only my problem; many students have the same problem. The city should extend the length of the drop-off-zone, so that more people can drop of the students at the same time, and create fewer traffic jams. Also, the drivers will not be concerned to come early in order to take up space; they would know there is a lot of room available for them to drop off and pick up students.
