Glendale ought to keep its streets cleaner

Share

I have been a resident of Glendale for the past 20 years. I find it a very pleasant city to live in, and I used to take pride in being a part of it.

I recently decided to take an early-morning walk down Brand Boulevard in the heart of the city. I feel compelled to share and voice my absolute disappointment in seeing the condition of the streets along the main business area. The area I covered was basically from the Ventura (134) Freeway south to the Americana at Brand.

The sidewalks were almost black and filthy, quite a contrast to the Americana, which is apparently kept up by Caruso Affiliated to entice businesses to locate and succeed within the structure.

The city of Glendale most certainly receives tax revenue from many businesses in the city.

Where is the pride of the city, and is this the image that we want to portray to the outside of a main street where stores are closing or changing hands on a regular basis?

Shame, shame!
