Confusing ballot language
I’m writing in the hope that the News-Press can be of some assistance to voters in the current election.
I’m not a lawyer, but until retirement I made a living as a newspaperman. I therefore believe I am reasonably qualified to understand the king’s English. But the Official Sample Ballot for the upcoming election contains something that has me baffled.
The proposed Ordinance of Measure H concerning taxes to be imposed on hotel and motel occupants contains the following under the heading Interpretation of language: “B. Genders. Each gender includes the other two genders.”
Just how many genders are there?
Good luck with that!
