Public should have a say on downtown parcel

Share

How fair and balanced it would be to have some special public outreach meetings regarding the seemingly lone large piece of land that’s still vacant in downtown Glendale — at Brand and Wilson.

After all, none of the three measures in 2004’s special election regarding the nearby, then-proposed Americana at Brand development, got as much as 52% of Glendale voters’ support. So, unless the city has been rushing pell mell into signing irrevocable development contracts with the putative developer, maybe it’s still not too late.

Anyway, that land could make for a badly needed recreation, as well as relaxation, themed park for denizens of the downtown area.

Was there an environmental impact report for that huge, multi-story/multi-use development currently under construction at Colorado and Elk (not to mention an additional three-story residential development, being simultaneously constructed, across Elk)? I wonder, because the eastbound bottleneck traffic congestion in that area is already approaching carmageddon levels!
