So First Lady Michelle Obama wants to make churches a public forum. On the campaign trail on July 5 and speaking at a rally in Tennessee, she said she liked the idea of churches presenting political and moral issues from the pulpit. “There isn't a better place to do this than churches,” she added.
But one very important point that wasn't mentioned by the First Lady is that all churches in the nation are tax exempt by the Internal Revenue Service. And if her transformative idea were carried out, churches would lose their exemption. So for her to introduce such a plan goes beyond the proposed practice of making churches a public forum and becomes a tax issue.
The role of American churches is to focus solely on religion and related activities for their congregations.
The transformation of churches in any way is out of the question.
