City shouldn’t support gun show

Thank you to letter-writer Lee Cohen for writing to express dismay at the gun show held at the Civic Auditorium this past weekend. I also live in the area and was appalled to once again see the huge banner [advertising the show] on the corner as I made the left turn from Glendale Boulevard onto Mountain.

Why would the city of Glendale support this exhibition year after year? The auditorium is a public building and should not be used to promote the sale of weapons. The gun show’s website reveals that another show is scheduled for Nov. 17-18, with three more weekends scheduled for 2013, all with the notation that “kids under 14 are free!”

I urge the City Council to reflect on the message we are sending to our children.
