Glendale is being made to look like Cairo

Excuse me, but I thought smoking and secondhand smoke were hazardous to my health (“Council loosens some smoking regulations,” Oct. 4).

Also, I thought we were endeavoring to teach young people about the terrible side effects of smoking and secondhand smoke have on their health.

Now, however, it appears the city fathers highly approve of outdoor smoking and hookahs at restaurants, making Glendale look a lot like Cairo. That is no compliment.

Once again we are seeing that those who squeak the loudest and pour the most money into an elected official’s coffers get their way, with no regard to the effect these actions have on the community as a whole.

How very sad.
