Development will be short on parking

I am amazed by the Glendale City Council. People complain about overbuilding, traffic, parking availability, etc., yet the council continues to pass approval for another apartment with inadequate parking (“Council backs South Glendale complex,” Feb. 28).

The Tropico will have 279 parking spaces for 238 apartments. That is less than 1.2 spaces per resident. Are these all single apartments for senior citizens? Forty-one spaces for second cars, visitors, employees, guests? Ridiculous! A five-story garage? Why not six or seven stories?

The street in front of the apartment is very narrow and requires off-street access. Los Feliz will require another left-turn lane. It is no wonder that there is so much discontent with Glendale.
