I applaud the decision to invite Joylene Wagner to write a column on education, “Learning Matters.” No one knows this topic better than Wagner does or has fought harder on behalf of public education and the Glendale school children than Wagner has in the eight years she served on the school board.
Wagner wears many hats in our community. Most importantly, she is an expert on the subtle changes and shifts that our community has experienced in its quest for excellence during very trying economic times. Change has come, whether we like it or not, and I look forward to hearing what Wagner has to say and to using her lucid insights to navigate my way around the chaos and reconstruction of the Glendale Unified School District as it morphs into a modern, technologically savvy, competitive and fiscally sound version of its old self.
Mrs. Wagner, you have our full attention and thank you for your continued service to our community.
