Remembering the wash’s true purpose

In Saturday’s News-Press was an article, “Locals asked to support Verdugo Wash rehab.” I cannot believe people have such short memories. The Verdugo Wash and L.A. River are flood-control channels. They are not there to look cute. People drown in these channels. Bodies back in the 1930s were floating near Pacific Avenue and Glenoaks. Whatever money is wasted changing these channels will be washed away in our next big storm.
