All-Area Girls’ Water Polo First Team

Elissa Arnold, Junior, Crescenta Valley

Scored 80 goals, while adding 72 steals and 38 assists during Falcons’ title run en route to earning first-team All-Pacific League and All-CIF honors.

Katie Benson, Senior, Crescenta Valley

Phenomenal defender grabbed 93 steals and was a first-teamer on All-Pacific and All-CIF squads. Also had 55 goals and 42 assists.

Ahsha Earwood, Senior, Burroughs

First-team All-Pacific League pick kept Indians in every match and led them to second-place league finish and first-round playoff appearance in which she had 21 saves.

Devin Grab, Junior, South Pasadena

Arguably the area’s most talented player, scored 103 goals and had 87 steals in just 11 games as she missed much of the season playing in the FINA World Youth Water Polo Championships. All-Area Player of the Year candidate led Tigers to CIF second round and was voted to All-CIF Division IV first team as well as the Rio Hondo League Player of the Year.

Shannon Hovanesian, Junior, Crescenta Valley

All-Area Player of the Year candidate was the Pacific League Player of the Year and an All-CIF first-team selection. A shutdown defender, she also led the Falcons in every major stat with 81 goals, 106 steals and 90 assists.

Lindsey Kelleher, Sophomore, Pasadena Poly

Record-breaking Panther was the co-Prep League Player of the Year and an All-CIF Southern Section Division VI first-teamer. Set a school record with a 68.7 shooting percentage and had 125 goals. Eye-popping numbers continued with 108 steals and 81 assists for Prep League champs.

Ashley Taylor, Junior, Crescenta Valley

Came up clutch during Falcons’ title run with 14 goals in four playoff games, finishing an All-Pacific League and All-CIF first-team season with 65 goals, 50 steals and 30 assists.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Brent Danna, Crescenta Valley

First-year Falcons coach never hesitated from the beginning of his tenure to say the goal of the team was to win a CIF title. After putting his team through endless workouts and taking down higher-division competition in nonleague play, Danna guided the Falcons to a dominant, undefeated Pacific League run before marching to the program’s first-ever CIF Southern Section Division V championship and a sterling 29-2 record.
