College Update: Glendale Community College transfers doing well on diamond

The following are updates on local athletics at the collegiate level.
Jena Kaser (Glendale Community College, 2013) Sonoma State softball senior: The former All-Western State Conference selection has come into her own with the Seawolves.
Kaser’s leading the way for the Seawolves with a .400 batting average coming off of 24 hits in 60 at-bats. She’s also tallied 11 runs batted in, seven runs and eight extra-base hits, including a pair of home runs.
Kaser has notched a hit in each of her previous three games and seven of her last eight, though Sonoma has lost three straight.
With an 11-9 record and an 8-6 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn., the Seawolves are headed into a CCAA series at home against Cal State San Marcos beginning Friday.
Angel Rodriguez (Glendale Community College, 2014) Cal State Northridge baseball senior: Rodriguez has registered back-to-back excellent starts.
Following a shutout at George Mason that earned him Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week honors on March 3, Rodriguez tossed seven innings of one-run ball on Friday at home against William and Mary.
The Matadors defeated William and Mary, 11-3, as part of their current nine-game winning streak.
In the victory, Rodriguez allowed four hits and three walks, while striking out five.
For the season, he’s 2-0, with both of his wins coming over his last two games, which have been his first two starts. Previously, he made four relief appearances. Overall, he touts a 1.64 earned-run average with 24 strikeouts to five walks.
CSUN is 14-3 heading into a three-game home series starting Saturday against Houston Baptist.
Mark Strazzeri (Glendale Community College, 2014) Viterbo baseball senior: It’s been a struggle of a season for Viterbo, but Strazzeri is putting up terrific numbers.
Strazzeri is leading the team with a .382 average, he’s tied for the team-high with 13 hits in 34 at-bats and has a team-high five doubles. In addition, the catcher has nine runs batted in.
Viterbo is currently 2-12 with a nine-game losing streak heading into its four-game series with Mount Mercy on Saturday.
Hannah Cookson (Crescenta Valley High, 2014) Long Beach State softball sophomore: A multiple All-Area and All-CIF selection, Cookson is putting up solid numbers at Long Beach State, led by her .291 (16 for 55) batting average.
Cookson’s driven in 11 runs and scored nine with three doubles providing a .345 slugging percentage.
Long Beach is 15-9 with a trip to the San Diego Classic II awaiting on Friday, when Long Beach faces off with Brigham Young and Ohio State to start.
Hailey Cookson (Crescenta Valley High, 2015) Arizona Western softball freshman: Cookson has headed south and is producing for Arizona Western, the 12th-ranked junior college squad in the country.
The middle infielder is hitting a robust .426 with 46 hits, 35 RBI, 26 runs and nine doubles through 30 games.
Currently on a 10-game hitting streak, Cookson has also driven in runs in seven consecutive games. Over that seven-game span, she’s tallied 16 RBI.
Arizona Western, which plays a doubleheader at Gateway on Tuesday, has won five in a row and holds a 25-5 record.
