Sports Roundup: St. Monica Academy basketball teams finish perfect in league

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

St. Monica Academy 55, New Harvest Christian 41: The Crusaders captured the school’s first-ever undefeated International League title thanks to a victory Friday afternoon in Whittier.

Senior forward Peter Ford turned in a magnificent effort with a triple-double as he finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks. St. Monica finished 18-4, 6-0 in league. The league title was the second in program history.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 80, St. Francis 57: Visiting St. Francis closed out the regular season Friday with a Mission League defeat. St. Francis dipped to 13-14, 2-10 in league to tie for last place with Notre Dame.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

St. Monica Academy 42, New Harvest Christian 24: The Crusaders finished off an undefeated International League crown with a road victory on Friday afternoon.

Kristina Turrichi led St. Monica (19-4, 14-0 in league) with 12 points, while Liberty Crisp added seven points.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 12, Grossmont College 8: Visiting Glendale (6-2) picked up a nonconference win Friday.
