Sports Roundup: Flintridge Prep girls’ basketball earns playoff road win

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 59, Arroyo Valley 47: Kaitlyn Chen finished with 25 points and Madison Manning added 15 on Saturday to spark visiting Flintridge Prep to a CIF Southern Section Division II-A second-round victory.

Sofia Gonzalez added 10 points for Flintridge Prep (23-2).

Flintridge Prep, which won the Prep League title, will be at home against Chino Hills (20-8) in a quarterfinal contest Wednesday at a time to be determined.

Chino Hills took second in the Baseline League.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Pacific 3, Flintridge Prep 0: Flintridge Prep saw its season conclude Saturday with a CIF Southern Section Division VI second-round road loss.

The Rebels went 14-7-1 and finished first in the Prep League.

GIRLS’ WRESTLING

Hoover in CIF Southern Section Northern Regional Qualifying Tournament: Sarine Mardirosian took third in the 101-pound class at Saturday’s event at Camarillo High.

Mardirosian, a freshman, will next participate in the CIF Southern Section Individual Championship Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Roosevelt High

BOYS’ WRESTLING

Hoover in CIF Southern Section Individual Wrestling Championship: Andrew Shin placed fifth in the 182-pound division on Saturday at Brea Olinda High in Brea.

Shin will naxt compete in the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet, which will occur Friday and Saturday at Cerritos College in Norwalk.

Davit Vardanian’s season ended in a consolation match in the 152-pound class.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Glendale Community College 87, Barstow College 75: Glendale posted a Western Srare Conference East Division road victory Saturday.

The Vaqueros improved to 11-13, 4-2 in the division.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

San Diego Mesa College 14, 4, Glendale Community College 1, 2: Glendale (1-5-2) dropped a nonconference road doubleheader Saturday.
