All-Area Boys’ Tennis Team

SINGLES

James Lee, Sophomore, Burbank

Top Bulldogs player finished 38-10, 28-8 in Pacific League. Advanced to semifinals in league tournament and helped squad qualify for CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs, where he won five sets in two playoff matches.

Kendric Marcy, Junior, Burroughs

Three-year staple in Indians lineup, Marcy had another impressive campaign. Registered a mark of 26-7, 23-7 in Pacific League and advanced to quarterfinals of league tournament.

Kevin Rowe, Junior, Crescenta Valley

Falcons’ No. 1 player earned All-Area recognition for second straight season while going 32-12, 21-5 in Pacific League. Reached the semifinals in league tournament and won two sets in CIF Southern Section Division II first-round match against West Torrance.

DOUBLES

Lucas Chmielewski, Junior, and Phillip Lan, Sophomore, La Cañada

Tandem helped Spartans take second place in Rio Hondo League behind power San Marino. Duo wemt 11-2, 9-1 in league, reached semifinals of league tournament and won two of three sets in CIF Southern Section Division I first-round postseason match versus Los Alamitos. Also participated in Ojai invite where they picked up a pair of wins and advanced to the round of 16.

Ian Lee, Junior, and Nicholas Lee, Junior, La Cañada

Brotherly combination finished 18-6, 7-3 in Rio Hondo League a season after being named All-Area Doubles Team of the Year. Helped Spartans finish second in league and qualify for CIF southern Section Division I playoffs, where they won two sets against Los Alamitos.

Gillis Linde, Sophomore, and Christian Yeghnazar, Senior, Flintridge Prep

Steady duo proved to be the backbone in doubles for the playoff-bound Rebels. Tandem, which garnered All-Area accolades last season, finished 38-4, 9-3 in the Prep League and won five playoff sets.

Flintridge Prep’s Morisa Yang is the All-Area Boys’ Tennis Coach of the Year. Yang was earlier named the All-Area Girls’ Tennis Coach of the Year.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Morisa Yang, Flintridge Prep

Guided Rebels to second-place finish in the Prep League and an appearance in the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs. Flintridge Prep finished 8-8, 4-2 in league before beating Charter Oak in a wild-card match for the program’s first playoff win this century.
