Sports Roundup: Crescenta Valley baseball outlasts La Cañada for tournament win

BOYS’ TENNIS

Crescenta Valley 17, Hoover 1: Visiting Crescenta Valley cruised to a Pacific League win Tuesday. The Falcons improved to 3-0 overall and in league. The Tornadoes are 1-3 overall and 1-2 in league.

Burbank 12, Glendale 6: The Nitros (0-3 overall and in league) fell Tuesday in a Pacific League road match.

SOFTBALL

Flintridge Prep 12, Ramona Convent 4: Melissa Grande had three hits and drove in five runs Tuesday to spur the visiting Rebels in their season opener. Flintridge Prep got two hits and two RBIs from Courtney Johnson and two hits from Libby Penn. Starting pitcher Therese Oshiro struck out eight for the Rebels.

Crescenta Valley 12, Northview 4: The Falcons won their season opener Monday in the San Dimas Tournament, with Sydnee Wells turning in a home run, triple, fives runs batted in, two runs scored and a stolen base.

Jessica Yzaguirre added two hits, including a triple, and an RBI, Kendall Ebert had two hits and two RBI, Viviana Bocanegra had two hits, a run and two stolen bases, Peyton Hause had two hits, an RBI and a run and Paige Baker had two hits and two runs.

BOY’S GOLF

St. Francis 202, Village Christian 225: The visiting Golden Knights picked up a nonleague win Tuesday at De Bell Golf Club in Burbank. St. Francis received a one-under-par 35 from Stian Lindvedt and 39s from Aidan Tracey and Tommy Altmayer.

On Monday, St. Francis began its season with a fifth-place finish in the Spanish Hills Tournament. The Golden Knights recorded a 241 at Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo. St. Francis received six-over-par 78s from Lintvedt and Eric Lin and an 85 from Altmayer.

Flintridge Prep 202, Charter Oak 253, Azusa 258: The Rebels started their season Tuesday with a victory at Azusa Greens Golf Course in Azusa in a nonleague tri-match. Flintridge Prep received a one-over-par 35 from Ben Sacks and a 39 from Jordan Sacks.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Sierra Canyon 12, St. Francis 11: The host Golden Knights (1-1) dropped a nonleague match Tuesday. St. Francis received five goals from Hagen Harvey and four from Evan Swayne.

BASEBALL

Glendale 10, Garfield 4: David Piedra had three hits and drove in two runs Monday for the visiting Nitros (1-1) in a Southern California Tournament game.

Chino Hills 11, Hoover 10: Hoover (0-3) fell Monday in a Chino Hills Tournament game. On Saturday, the Tornadoes began their season by getting swept in a nonleague home doubleheader against Warren. Hoover lost the first game, 5-3, before suffering a 10-5 loss in the second game.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Glendale Community College 9, Santa Barvara City College 0: Visiting Glendale rolled to a Western State Conference win Tuesday. Glendale (8-3, 4-0 in conference) got singles wins from Viktoriya Shumakova (6--2, 6-4), Tsukimi Ono (6-1, 6-0), Meredy Gharabegi (6-4, 6-1), Veronika Galstyan (6-3, 6-3), Kanako Kihara (3-6, 6-0, 6-3) and Melody Emmanouilidi (6-2, 7-5). It also received doubles victories from Shumakova and Gharabegi (8-2), Galstyan and Ono (8-3) and Kihara and Alexa Mendez (8-4).

MEN’S TENNIS

Santa Barbara City College 8, Glendale Community College 1: Host Glendale dropped a Western State Conference match Tuesday. Glendale (3-6, 1-3 in conference) received a singles win from John Robertson (6-1, 2-6, 6-2).
