Wildcats make smashing debut

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Renaissance Academy 59, Animo Leadership 36: The Wildcats made their Harbor League debut on the road Friday night and won in convincing fashion.

Renaissance improved to 13-6, as Nick Troplant scored 15 points and Anthony Cost had 14 points. Ed Burrows had 10 assists.

St. Francis, 63, Chaminade 56: The host Golden Knights received 26 points from Emerson Castaneda on Thursday in a Mission League contest. St. Francis (9-10, 1-4 in league) also got 16 points from Zack Gardea and 10 from Sevan Zarifian.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Flintridge Prep 51, Westridge 46: Mya Okamoto had 18 points to lead the Rebels to a Prep League home win on Friday evening.

Kimberly Kim added nine points, while Kristin Shum and Katherine Bogaard each had eight for Prep (5-12, 2-4 in league).

BOYS’ SOCCER

Crescenta Valley 6, Burbank 2: Pavle Atanackovic finished with three goals and one assist Friday to propel the visiting Falcons in a Pacific League match.

Crescenta Valley also received one goal apiece from Jaehoon Jung, Eric Keshishian and Vahe Nalbandian. The Falcons improved to 7-2-5, 5-0-3 in league and remain in first place one point ahead of Burroughs and Muir.

Glendale 4, Arcadia 0: Nick Villapando, Rick Espinosa, Mauricio Medina and Vahe Hakobyan each scored goals to lift the visiting Nitros in a Pacific League contest. Glendale improved to 5-0-7, 3-0-5.

Muir 1, Hoover 0: The host Tornadoes fell Friday in a Pacific League match. Hoover dropped to 3-8-1, 1-6-1 in league.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Hoover 1, Muir 0: Gaby Turcios scored early in the second half to lift the visiting Tornadoes in a Pacific League match on Friday for their first league win of the season. Hoover improved to 4-5-2, 1-4-2.

Arcadia 5, Glendale 1: The host Nitros suffered a Pacific League loss. Isabella Montano scored the lone goal for Glendale, which dropped to 2-7-4, 1-5-2.
