Gardea paces Golden Knights


St. Francis 66, Chaminade 60: Guard Zack Gardea finished with a team-high 30 points Monday to carry the Golden Knights in a Mission League road contest. Ben Maynard added 12 points for St. Francis, which improved to 11-14, 2-9 in league.

St. Francis made 17 of 18 free-throw attempts. It made 10 of 11 shots from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

Sierra Canyon 73, Flintridge Prep 71: Kenyatta Smith recorded his first triple-double, as he notched 18 points, 17 rebounds and 11 blocks in a nonleague road game Monday. The Rebels (17-6) received 15 points from Robert Cartwright and 13 from Jedrick Eugenio.

On Saturday, Smith collected 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the visiting Rebels to a 72-38 Prep League victory against Webb. Flintridge Prep (6-1 in league) got 14 points from Cartwright and 10 apiece from Jared Norsworthy and Ismail Kareem.


Santa Monica City College 81, Glendale Community College 63: Alex Mancillas finished with a team-high 19 points and five assists Wednesday for the host Vaqueros in a Western State Conference Southern Division contest. Glendale college (0-20, 0-8 in the division) received 13 points from Araceli Nieves and nine rebounds from Marianna Azizian.
