Vaqueros pick up WSC tennis win

MEN’S TENNIS

Glendale Community College 5, Bakersfield College 4: The host Vaqueros captured four singles wins Tuesday in a Western State Conference match. Alex Sarkissian, Trevor Campbell, Stephan Manmann and Dro Mahmoudi picked up wins in singles for Glendale (5-4, 2-0 in conference). Sarkissian and Campbell teamed up for a doubles win.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Bakersfield College 6, Glendale Community College 3: The visiting Vaqueros fell Tuesday in a Western State Conference match. Glendale (1-3, 0-2 in conference) got singles wins from Samantha Sismundo, Mayra Alvarez and Katherine Akmakji.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Long Beach City College 8, Glendale Community College 2: Sean Spear had two hits and one stolen base Tuesday for the Vaqueros (9-4) in a nonconference home game at Stengel Field. Ryan Daniels added a double for Glendale, which suffered a 6-5 loss to East L.A. College in a nonconference contest at Cal State Los Angeles on Monday.

BOYS’ GOLF

La Cañada 195, St. Francis 206, Flintridge Prep 212: Jack Bouchard of Flintridge Prep carded a one-under-par 33 on Tuesday to earn medalist honors in a nonleague tri-match at La Cañada Country Club. Richard Lo fired a 39 for the Rebels (0-2).

St. Francis (1-1) received a 39 from Michael Finney and a 40 from Michael Doll.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Glendale 18, Pasadena 0: The Nitros began their season Tuesday with a Pacific League road victory. John Azizian, Nick Shamma and Mike Unanian swept their three singles sets for the Nitros.
