TRACK AND FIELD

Crescenta Valley in Camarillo Distance Relays: The Falcons’ quartet of Cali King, Diane Lombardi, Claudia Pham and Anneke Kakebeen took the top spot in the 4x1,600-meters relay Friday night in a time of 22 minutes 21.45 seconds — which was the second-best time in the nine-year history of the meet.

King ran a 5:27.9 leg to lead off and the time was matched by Kakebeen on the anchor. Lombardi ran a 5:43.6 leg, while Pham followed in the third leg at 5:41.7.

The Falcons finished roughly 37 seconds faster than second-place Burbank.

The same foursome also took second in the 4x800 relay, clocking 10:10.39. King ran a 2:29, while Lombardi ran a 2:33.1, Kakebeen a 2:33.7 and Pham a 2:34.4.

SOFTBALL

Serrano 8, Crescenta Valley 7: The Falcons (4-1) fell Friday in an opening-round game of the High Desert Classic at Lancaster Park.

Crescenta Valley received two hits apiece from Sydney House, Cece Martinez, Claire Ortiz, Maria Leon and Allison Lacey.

Whitney Craig had a two-run triple for the Falcons, who will compete in a pair of tournament games at 10 a.m. and noon today against teams to be determined.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Santa Fe 2, Flintridge Prep 1: The Rebels fell, 25-22, 19-25, 15-12, in their final pool-play match of the day Friday in the San Gabriel Tournament.

Prep (6-6) finished second in its pool after defeating Mark Keppel, 21-25, 25-17, 15-13, and Bellarmine-Jefferson, 25-14, 25-15, earlier Friday.

On the day, the Rebels received 35 kills and 11 blocks from Kenyatta Smith, 22 kills from Nolan Jimbo and 76 assists from Kieran Mulroy.

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Western State Conference meet: The Lady Vaqueros finished second with 120 points behind first-place West L.A. on Friday at College of the Canyons.

Karen Rosas won the women’s 3,000 meters in 10 minutes 43.9 seconds and also took third in the women’s 1,500 in 5:02.37.

Alyssa Selve won the women’s 1,500 in 5:02.37, as GCC took the top five spots in the race, with Laura Pluemer taking second in 5:02.73.

Selve also finished second in the women’s 800 in 2:22.94, just in front of teammate Diana Sanchez, who finished third in 2:25.67.

Melissa Cruz was third in the pole vault in 2.35 meters.

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Western State Conference meet: The Vaqueros finished fourth with 94 points on Friday at College of the Canyons. Canyons won the meet with 209 points.

Neil Jones and Ricky Avila led the way for the Vaqueros. Jones finished first in the men’s 800 in 1:58.28 and took second in the men’s 1,500 in 4:00.27.

Avila won the men’s 3,000 in 8:51.33, while taking third in the 1,500 in 4:05.32.

Robert Weathers was third in the 100 in 11.11, Ramon Robles was third in the 800 in 2:00.54, Trey Williams was third in the 200 in 23.64 and Patrick Donahue was third in the long jump in 6.25 meters.
