Tornadoes flatten Falcons at home

BOYS’ TENNIS

Hoover 13, Crescenta Valley 5: Ejmin Mehranian and Oleg Simonyan each swept their singles sets Thursday to lead the host Tornadoes in a Pacific League match. Mehranian won, 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 and Simonyan came through at 6-1, 6-1, 6-1, for Hoover (7-4, 5-4 in league)

Crescenta Valley saw its doubles team of Jeremy Cho and Justin Chung sweep, 7-5, 7-5, 6-0.

Burbank 10, Glendale 8: Nick Shamma swept three singles sets Thursday for the visiting Nitros in a Pacific League contest. Shamma won, 6-4, 6-2, 6-0.

Glendale (9-3, 6-2) got two wins in doubles from Jeff Asano and Elliot Kim, 6-3, 6-2.

BASEBALL

Flintridge Prep 13, Bellarmine-Jefferson 3 (five innings): Kyle McDonald collected three hits, scored two runs and drove in two on Thursday to spark the visiting Rebels (5-4) in a nonleague contest at Brace Park in Burbank.

Brenden McKiernan scored three runs and had two hits and two runs batted in for the Rebels, who got run-scoring doubles from Royce Park and Karlsen Termini. Park went three innings on the mound, striking out four and yielding two hits.

SOFTBALL

Glendale 17, Muir 0: Vanessa Sanchez and Kristi Cabana each had three RBIs for the Nitros in a Pacific League road win on Thursday.

Meghan Spencer also drove in a pair of runs for Glendale (2-8, 2-2).

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 4, Louisville 3: Mackenzie Lyng earned the win in the circle and drove in two runs for the Tologs in a Mission League home win on Tuesday.

Kelly Trueblood also had two RBIs for Sacred Heart (5-7, 1-2).

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Ventura College 5, Glendale Community College 4: The visiting Vaqueros fell Thursday in a Western State Conference match.

Samantha Sismundo of the Vaqueros posted a 6-2, 6-4 win. Glendale college (3-9, 1-7 in conference) also got victories from Phoebe Minette (7-5, 6-2), Mayra Alvarez (6-4, 6-4) and Katherine Akmakji (7-6(7-5), 6-3).

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Glendale Community College 7, 2, College of the Canyons 4, 4: Jennifer Meza got the win in the circle in the opener and took a loss in the nightcap of a Western State Conference home doubleheader on Thursday that saw the Vaqueros move to 5-3 in conference.
