Jones highlights GCC's day


Glendale Community College in Bryan Clay Invitational: Neil Jones won the 800-meter race in a personal-best 1 minute 53.07 seconds and also finished second in the 1,500 in 3:57.70 race on Friday at Azusa Pacific University.

Other top finishers on the men's side came from Adrian Anderson, who won his heat of the 800 in 1:56.06, and Robert Weathers, who was third in the 200 in 22.75.

On the women's side, Karen Rosas won her heat of the 800 in a personal-record of 2:21.13, while Alyssa Selve was sixth in her heat in a PR of 2:19.01.

The women's 4x400 team of Jennifer Dowty, Laura Pluemer, Carissa Porter and Britanny Dacoff won in a PR of 4:06.80.


Holy Family 6, Alverno 1: Rachel Turner struck out five and scattered three hits Friday to lead the visiting Gaels in a Horizon League contest.

Holy Family (4-4, 3-1 in league) received a run-scoring double from Ashlee Sandoval and a two-run single from Gaby Diaz.
