SINGLES

Josh Kim, Sophomore, La Cañada

Missed a chunk of the season due to injuries after emerging as the Spartans’ most dominant player. He still managed to battle back to place third in the Rio Hondo League tournament. The Spartans’ No. 1 singles player finished the season with a 29-7 overall record.

Oleg Simonyan, Sophomore, Hoover

Was a driving force for the Tornadoes, helping them advance to the CIF playoffs. The team’s No. 1 singles player earned a spot in the Pacific League championship, losing to All-Area Player of the Year Garrett Auproux of Burroughs. Ended the season with a 35-15 record after his first appearance in the CIF Individuals.

Alex Wood, Senior, Flintridge Prep

Rebels’ top singles player was a dependable asset in notching points for the top-heavy Prep squad that advanced to the playoffs for a third straight season. Tallied a 38-7 overall record and a 15-3 mark in Prep League.

DOUBLES

Oscar Lam, Senior, and Wen Yao Lin, Soph., Burroughs

Indians tandem only teamed up a couple of times during regular season, but went on deep run in Pacific League Tournament to claim championship.

Jeff Asano and Elliott Kim, Seniors, Glendale

Veteran duo went 49-5 on the season and took third place in the Pacific League Tournament.

Michael Choi and Tyler Jones, Seniors, La Cañada

Went 20-12 on the season and took third in the Rio Hondo League.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Julie Hoppe, Hoover

Guided Tornadoes to the CIF playoffs for the first time since 2003. Was named the Pacific League’s co-Coach of the Year. Also played a role in helping improve Oleg Simonyan’s all-around game in reaching the league singles final and CIF Individuals Tournament.
