Rebels grab first win

SOFTBALL

Flintridge Prep 18, Chadwick 3 (five innings): Chelsea Johnson went four for five and scored a pair of runs Tuesday to lead the visiting Rebels in a Prep League contest to claim their first victory of the season. Rachel Simon also went four for five and drove in two runs for Flintridge Prep (1-11, 1-4 in league). Maya Okamoto had three hits and Drew Montgomery added two for the Rebels.

Burroughs 11, Hoover 0: The host Tornadoes didn’t record a hit Tuesday in their Pacific League contest. Hoover dropped to 5-7, 2-3 in league.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Chaminade 12, St. Francis 6: St. Francis’ doubles team of Alex Kevakian and Kristian Esteve swept their three sets, 6-1, 6-3, 6-2, on Tuesday in a Mission League home match at Fremont Tennis Center. St. Francis (6-6, 3-4 in league) suffered a 12-6 league home loss Monday against Harvard-Westlake.

Burbank 14, Flintridge Prep 4: Rebel singles player James Nowotny won two sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in a nonleague road match Tuesday.

Burroughs 15, Crescenta Valley 3: The host Falcons (3-7 in the Pacific League) fell Tuesday in a league match.

BOYS’ GOLF

Cathedral 238, Flintridge Prep 243: Jack Bouchard carded a one-over-par 36 to earn medalist honors Tuesday for the visiting Rebels (5-9) in a nonleague match at Rancho Park Golf Course in Los Angeles.

BASEBALL

Crespi 21, St. Francis 1: The visiting Golden Knights suffered a Mission League road loss Tuesday at Hartunian Field in Encino. St. Francis dropped to 7-14, 2-3 in league.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 10, L.A. Pierce College 3: Starting pitcher Cory Popham struck out six in six innings Tuesday to lead the visiting Vaqueros to a Western State Conference Southern Division victory. Edgar Montes had two hits, including a solo home run, for the Vaqueros (22-9, 13-4 in the division). Sergio Plasencia drove in three runs for Glendale.
