Tologs finish regular season undefeated

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 77, Saddleback Valley Christian 22: The Tologs capped off a perfect 10-0 season with a nonleague victory at home Thursday.

Sacred Heart won all 11 events with seven swimmers taking home individual victories.

Emily Balog, a junior, was the lone double winner individually, as she won the 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute 2.04 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.01, which was good for a CIF Southern Section Division I consideration time.

Three seniors — Monica Pernecky, Eva Dulcich and Brynn Whitehouse-Levine — also claimed wins.

Pernecky won the 100 freestyle in 59.12, Dulcich took the 50 freestyle in 25.40, which is good for a CIF consideration time, and Whitehouse-Levine won the 500 freestyle in 5:54.31.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Hoover 14, San Gabriel 4: The Tornadoes swept all nine singles sets en route to a nonleague victory on the road Thursday. Oleg Simonyan and Emile Ohanyan led the charge for Hoover, as both singles players went 6-1, 6-0, 6-0 on the day.

Danny Kim and Arthur Arutyunyan also won two of three doubles sets for the Tornadoes.

Crescenta Valley 16, Pasadena 2: The Falcons improved to 4-7 in the Pacific League at home after getting sweeps from Greg Manocheri and James Oh in doubles and another from Justin Chung in singles.

Burroughs 14, Glendale 4: The Nitros fell to 5-5 in the Pacific League after falling to the Indians on the road.

Glendale got its wins from Sam Sarian and Rene Glandian, 6-2, Alex Yoon and Danny Shafrazian, 6-3, Mike Akopians and Alex Choi, 7-6, and Arin Meserkhani, 6-1, in singles.

BOYS’ GOLF

Alemany 188, St. Francis 198: Johnny Brandt shot a one-over-par 37 on Thursday for the visiting Golden Knights in a Mission League match at Hanson Dam Golf Course. St. Francis received 39s from Michael Finney and Jason Stumbaugh.

On Wednesday, St. Francis recorded a 210-215 win against Alemany at Brookside Golf Course No. 1.

Viewpoint 189, Flintridge Prep 245, Granada Hills Hillcrest Christian 267: Jack Bouchard carded a three-over-par 39 for the Rebels on Thursday in a Prep League match at Encino Golf Course. Josh Kim added a 43 for Flintridge prep (6-10, 2-6 in league).

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 2, Bakersfield College 1: Cam Gardner and Robert DeSantiago each had two hits and drove in a run Thursday to lead the visiting Vaqueros in a Western State Conference Southern Division contest. Glendale starting pitcher Alonzo Gonzalez allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings to get the win. KJ Edson went the final two innings to pick up the save and help the Vaqueros improve to 23-9, 14-4 in the division.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

L.A. Valley College 7, Glendale Community College 5: Jennifer Nguyen hit a solo home run for the Vaqueros on Thursday in a Western State Conference Blue Division game. Casey Nicodemus added a pair of hits for Glendale, which dropped to 25-13, 10-6 in the division.
