SPORTS ROUNDUP: Nitros get by Indians


Glendale 10, Burroughs 8: Veronika Galstyan swept her three singles sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, on Thursday to lead the host Nitros in a Pacific League match.

Emily Levin won two sets, 6-2, 7-5, for the Nitros (3-3, 2-2 in league). Arpine Tsaturyan also won two sets, 6-2, 6-1, for Glendale.

Imani Story and Danielle Fabian of Glendale worked together to capture two doubles sets, 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-5).

Flintridge Prep 9, Mayfield 9 (Flintridge Prep win in games, 78-71): Flintridge Prep’s top two singles players each swept Thursday to spark the Rebels on Thursday in a Prep League opener at Arroyo Seco Park.

Roya Gheissari swept, 6-3, 6-2, 6-0. Abby Letts also won her three sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to help the Rebels improve to 2-4.

Marshall Fundamental 12, Hoover 6: The Tornadoes fell Thursday in a nonleague road match. Hoover’s No. 1 doubles team of Kristine Adzhemyan and Diana Karapetyan won two sets, 6-0, 6-3.


Flintridge Prep 3, Ramona Convent 0: Katherine Bogaard finished with 26 assists and three aces Thursday to lead the Rebels to a 25-13, 25-8, 25-15 nonleague road victory. Flintridge Prep (3-1) got 10 kills and three aces from Lauren Stiles, eight kills from Ella Worley and six kills from Natalie Markowitz.

St. Monica Academy 3, Holy Family 0: Visiting Holy Family fell Thursday, 25-22, 25-9, 25-19, in a nonleague match at Eagle Rock Recreation Center. Iris Guzman had three kills for the Gaels (0-6).


Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 224, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 273: Katie Hartwig shot an 11-over-par 49 on Thursday for the Tologs in a Mission League match at Balboa Golf Course in Encino.
