Sports Roundup: Hoover edges Arcadia in opener

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Hoover 12, Arcadia 11: Hakop Baghumian finished with five goals to lead visiting Hoover to a Pacific League-opening win Tuesday. Ryan Moguel finished with three goals and Alek Keshishyan added two to help Hoover improve to 10-5.

South Pasadena 11, Flintridge Prep 6: It was an exciting day for the Rebels, who hosted South Pasadena Tuesday. Flintridge Prep’s junior transfer from Loyola High Johnny Treinen was eligible to play in his first match and Prep wanted revenge for a one-goal loss suffered to the Tigers in the Los Altos Tournament earlier this year.

Treinen, who finished with a team-high two goals, got the Rebels (10-7) on the board in the second quarter after they gave up a 3-0 run to start the game. Brian Khin finished with eight saves for Prep, which also got two steals each from Ethan Vandeventer and Alex Blaine.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Crescenta Valley 3, Hoover 0: Alison Reik talled nine kills and two aces to lead the host Falcons to a 25-21, 25-23, 25-21 Pacific League win on Tuesday.

Emmie Walker added eight kills and Noel Wong had four kills and three blocks for the Falcons (3-5, 2-4).

Mayfield 3, Flintridge Prep 0: The Rebels fell to 3-8 overall and 0-5 in the Prep League with Tuesday’s loss.

Lauren Stiles and Daniella Motte had seven kills each, while Motte added three aces and Bryn McFadden had 21 digs.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Louisville 13, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 5: The visiting Tologs received a sweep in doubles from Lara Sarkisian and Holly MacVaugh, 6-1, 6-2, 6-0, in a Mission League match at Calabasas Tennis & Swim Center on Tuesday.
