Crescenta Valley girls’ water polo captures Mistletoe Classic

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Crescenta Valley 7, Harvard-Westlake 3: Elissa Arnold and Shannon Hovanesian each scored three goals to lead the Falcons to a win in the championship game of the Mistletoe Classic on Saturday.

Crescenta Valley, ranked fifth in CIF Southern Section Division 5, also got six saves from Gabriel Isacson and lockdown defense against the Division 3 top-ranked Wolverines’ two-meter player from Ashley Taylor.

Earlier Saturday the Falcons bested Westlake in the semifinals, 9-8, behind four goals from Hovanesian and three goals and three assists from Breanna Lawton. In the quarterfinals, Crescenta Valley (5-0) beat Righetti, 9-1, with three goals apiece from Taylor and Lawton and two goals and seven steals from Hovanesian.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Hoover 53, Arleta 49: Ryan Barseghian scored 15 points to lead the Tornadoes (2-2) in a win Saturday in the Campbell Hall Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament.

Ando Adjemian added 13 for Hoover, which also got 11 from Teo Davidian and 10 from Francis Roncal, who was named to the all-tournament team.
