Crescenta Valley boys’ basketball smothers Cougars

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Crescenta Valley 70, Granada Hills Kennedy 56: Cole Currie finished with 21 points, six assists and six rebounds Friday to lead the Falcons (6-2) in a semifinal game of the San Fernando Valley invitational at Crespi High.

Nick Springer recorded 20 points and eight rebounds for Crescenta Valley, which received nine points and seven rebounds from Eric Patten and eight points and five rebounds from Kris Jabourian.

Crescenta Valley will take on Oak Park in the tournament’s championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Crespi.

Sierra Canyon 58, Flintridge Prep 51: Kareem Ismail had 19 points Thursday for the visiting Rebels (4-3) in a nonleague game. Jedrick Eugenio had 12 points for Flintridge Prep.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Glendale 6, Alverno 1: Aline Graham finished with three goals Friday to lead the host Nitros (2-4) in a nonleague match. Glendale got one goal apiece from Meghan Spencer, Andrea Popescu and Ashley Hermosillo.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Glendale 53, Granada Hills Kennedy 25: Erlin Keshishzadeh had 15 points and seven rebounds and Tara Abdul-Ahad added nine points and four assists Friday to propel the Nitros (4-2) in a Magnolia Park Optimist Tournament contest at Burroughs High.

Amanda Mazanians finished with eight points and three assists and teammate Kristina Sahakian contributed six points and eight rebounds for Glendale.

In a tournament game Thursday, Kristineh Zadourian had 16 points to lead the Nitros to a 46-42 win against Carter.

Arroyo Grande 45, Crescenta Valley 42: Tanisha Minasian had 11 points Friday for the Falcons (2-5) in a Magnolia Park Optimist Tournament game at Burroughs High.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 56, St. Monica 52: Juliet Hook and Dana Budzyn each collected 14 points Thursday for the host Tologs (8-3) in a nonleague game. Casey Johnson added 12 points for Flintridge Sacred Heart, which got 11 from Jenna Tran.
