Crescenta Valley basketball springs past Torrance


Crescenta Valley 52, Torrance 40: Nick Springer finished with 18 points and Eric Patten added 10 points and 10 rebounds Thursday to lead the Falcons (8-3) in a MaxPreps Holiday Tournament game at Cathedral City High. Cole Currie contributed 14 points for the Falcons, who got 12 rebounds from Elliot Wilson.

Crescenta Valley began the tournament Wednesday with a 61-41 win against Diamond Bar. Patten finished with 20 points and nine rebounds. Currie contributed 14 points for the Falcons, who got 10 from Wilson.

Flintridge Prep 63, Buckley 58: Robert Cartwright had 17 points, seven assists and six steals Thursday to spark the Rebels in a Santa Barbara Tournament contest. Kareem Ismail finished with 16 points for Flintridge Prep, which got 10 points apiece from Chadd Cosse and Jedrick Eugenio.

Cartwright had 15 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday for the Rebels in a 67-58 tournament win against St. Bonaventure. Eugenio finished with 14 points for the Rebels, who got 10 from Ismail.

Warren 73, Hoover 62: Arvin Atakhanian had 19 points and Tiko Babikyan added 12 on Thursday for the Tornadoes (6-4) in a Whittier Tournament contest.

Hoover began the tournament Wednesday with a 78-49 win against La Puente. Kevin Nazari and Ryan Barseghian had 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Hoover. Teo Davididian contributed 10 rebounds for the Tornadoes.

Glendale 75, Heritage Christian 55: Vahe Aristakessian notched 24 points and Arada Zakarian had 20 on Wednesday to lead the Nitros (3-6) in a pool-play game of the Hart Tournament.


Flintridge Prep 4, Palm Springs 0: The Rebels posted a victory in the Ontario Christian Tournament on Thursday. Earlier, Flintridge Prep picked up a 4-0 win against Colony.


Crescenta Valley 1, Valencia 1: Pablo Sotillo scored for the Falcons (8-1-3) on Thursday in a Hart Tournament match. In another tournament contest, Pablo Hernandez scored a goal for Crescenta Valley in a 1-1 tie against Knight.

Hacienda Heights Wilson 3, Flintridge Prep 2: The Rebels suffered a defeat Thursday in the Ontario Christian Tournament after earlier notching a 4-0 victory against Crean Lutheran.
