GCC golf grabs third place in Bakersfield Invitational

MEN’S GOLF

Glendale college in Bakersfield Invitational: The Vaqueros finished third in the two-day Bakersfield Invitational on Tuesday. Glendale recorded a 385 after opening with a 396 on Monday to finish at 781.

Clayton Ojeja shot a three-over-par 75 on Tuesday and finished at 151 for the Vaqueros. Win Kyaw shot a 74 for 155. Jin Park carded a 77 for 156. Tavit Garabedian had a 77 for 157 and Derrik Hubbard notched a 77 for 160.

WRESTLING

La Canada 45, Hoover 31: The Tornadoes fell to 1-4 in their debut season in the Rio Hondo League Tuesday in its league finale.

The Tornadoes notched four pins, with Jesse Martinez (138-pounds), Arthur Ghukasyan (145), Gio Martinez (220) and Davit Balakeseryan (106) each pinning their opponents.

Hoover also got wins from Armen Arshakyan, who won 7-5 at 120, and Sebastian Gouliance, who earned a major 10-0 win at 160.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Harvard-Westlake 19, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 5: The visiting Tologs fell Tuesday in a Mission League match. Flintridge Sacred Heart dropped to 10-11, 3-4 in league.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Hoover 68, Muir 66: Arvin Atakhanian finished with a team-high 15 points Monday to spark the host Tornadoes in a Pacific League contest. Hoover (11-11, 3-7 in league) got 11 points from Francis Roncal .

Arcadia 57, Glendale 56: Vahe Aristakessian collected 16 points and 10 rebounds for the visiting Nitros on Monday in a Pacific League game. Arthur Terzyan had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Glendale (8-14, 3-7 in league).

Crespi 66, St. Francis 62: Kyle Leufroy registered 21 points Monday and John Carroll added 11 for the visiting Golden Knights (12-10, 2-6 in league) in a Mission League game.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Burbank 31, Crescenta Valley 27: Tanisha Minassian had eight points Monday for the host Falcons in a Pacific League game. Crescenta Valley dipped to 8-15, 3-7 in league.

Muir 72, Hoover 24: The visiting Tornadoes fell Monday in a Pacific League contest. Hoover dropped to 2-14, 1-9 in league.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Crescenta Valley 5, Burbank 1: Justin Wright finished with three goals and one assist Monday to lead the visiting Falcons to a Pacific League win. Erick Trejo and Pablo Hernandez each scored a goal for Crescenta Valley, which improved to 16-2-6, 6-1-3 in league for a share of first place with Burroughs.

Hoover 2, Muir 2: The host Tornadoes got one goal apiece from Argin Haghoubian and Carlos Morataya on Monday in a Pacific League match at Toll Middle School. Hoover improved to 2-7-4, 1-7-2 in league.

Crespi 2, St. Francis 0: Goalkeeper Luca Coppola finished with seven saves Monday for the visiting Golden Knights in a Mission League match. St. Francis dropped to 6-7-5, 4-3-1 in league.

Arcadia 5, Glendale 4: Albert Chamagua scored twice Monday for the Nitros in a Pacific League road defeat. Glendale dropped to 7-10-2, 2-7-1 in league.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 7, Louisville 0: Hannah Armendariz tallied a hat trick and had an assist in Monday afternoon’s Mission League home win at Occidental College.

The Tologs (13-1-3, 5-1-1 in league) also got two goals and an assist from Savannah Viola, while Laura Thompson and Kayla Mills also scored goals. Krista Meaglia added two assists.

Hoover 4, Muir 0: Tyra Williams collected one goal and one assist Monday to spark the Tornadoes in a Pacific League road match. Hoover improved to 2-9, 2-8 in league.
